Pearls
Important criteria of pearls are the 'luster' and the size of the pearl.
Luster
The luster is the mysterious luminousness of a pearl, which seems to come from its interior. This unique light phenomenon gives the pearl life and influence, and revealed to the eye and the heart the seductive charm of the pearl. Luster is the most important feature for long-lasting quality of a pearl, because only a strong nacre layer can produce intense luster and can sustain under heavy strain.
Size
Another main factor to select pearls is the size. The value of a pearls increases disproportionately with the size. What matters is next to the existing budget the question of which size suites best to the wearer. In all circumstances the rule: "Chandelier before size" should be precedence.
Other important features for pearls are the surface, the shape and color of it.
Surface
Basically, a flawless surface is considered as the ideal in pearls. But small "flaws" or other irregularities can increase the attractiveness of a pearl and also accent their personality.
Shape
The ideal form of a perfect pearl is absolutely round or consummately drop shaped. However, the appeal of a pearl is in the form, as well as at the surface the uniqueness as it was meant by nature.
Color
Some colors are valued particularly high because of their rarity or special popularity, such as the colors of pink-white, cream-pink or silvery-white. The supreme principle in choosing the color of a pearl is, however, the personal taste. The color of the pearl should always fit the appearance and type of the wearer.
